We are delighted to announce the introduction of a new group of samples for this scheme year aimed at those laboratories analysing blood in alcohol for driving impairment purposes. The trial rounds will comprise a 10ml vial of blood, containing alcohol around or above the current legal limits. Participants will be required to quantify the alcohol concentration by their usual method and to report their results for assessment. Two trial rounds will be provided, 14 December 2009 and 14 June 2010. As trials, the ‘driving impairment’ rounds are not included in our current scope of accreditation.
